Today would have been our Dads 94th birthday, its kind of crazy to think that my FIL passed at this age and that if things were different maybe my Dad would have still been with us, its kind of crazy to think of 21 years that we were robbed of this fun loving man, kind of crazy to think that I was just 2 years older than my son is now when we lost him..I couldn’t imagine my son’s grief if he lost either of us in 2 years..how did I keep my shit together? But, I do know looking back that I didn’t keep my shit together, I closed my business that I loved and wasn’t myself for years. Watching a parent suffer through cancer and cry out in pain and anguish is something that truly never leaves us, compacted colons causing pain, swollen body parts, bedridden for months, cries of leaving your children and grandchildren, I can hear his voice like it was yesterday.

And when someone asks my why? He is my why. Norman inspired me to give back to cancer patients through @ventedinbrooklyn and challenge our community of Givers to give, to be a light to others when they need hope, and to fill each day with life and to live!

So today, I challenge you to do something for someone else, to give a compliment, to make someone feel special, seen and heard. Let us know what you’re doing!
